As Mama Sarah put it... you are more of like a burgandy... its a mellow color. I don't necessarily agree with the mellow part, but I do think she was right with the burgandy.

I think burgandy is a mix of purple, red and black, which is a reflection of my personality.

Purple is a rich color that symbolizes integrity and courage. I feel that I carry myself with integrity and try to surround myself with individuals who do the same. As I have grown and discovered who I am as a person, I have also developed the courage to stand up for the things I believe in and think are right in this crazy world we live in.

Red symbolizes love, of course. Unfortuantly, I think I sometimes carry too much love in my heart. I will always and forever have unconditional love in my heart for my family..both by blood and not.

Finally...black (which so happens to be my favorite color). I have always struggled with my mood. If something happens that upsets me or makes me mad....I pretty much stay mad the rest of the day and maybe even into the next day. I hold a grudge and it takes me longer than it should to forgive....and I never forget.

Mrs. McAllister's First Blog Entry

This semester I hope to accomplish two things....1) I would like for 100% of my students to pass their classes. No failing grades! 2) I would like to incorporate more technology into my lessons in order to minimize the amount of paper used in my classroom.

I have never blogged before and therefore am very nervous about it. Blogs did not exist when I was in school (at least I don't think they did) and I have never had a use for them in my own personal or professional life. I look forward to following my students' blogs and learning about their unique personalities.

What you should know about me....well.. I enjoy teaching and my greatest joy is seeing students succeed. I have been at Athens for 7 years but have been teaching Study Skills for 3 years. I graduated from NC State with a double major in Math and Math Education and therefore started teaching math when I began at Athens Drive in 2005. I celebrated my 3 year wedding anniversary this summer along with the arrival of my first daughter, Sara Victoria. I am super excited to be a Mom but don't be surprised if you see me with an EXTRA LARGE cup of coffee and slightly cranky from lack of sleep! I also coach HYPHY (check us out on youtube.com) and Junior Varsity Softball. I am looking forward to a productive Fall Semester!
